Micro Particle Technology

Micro particle technology is the science of controlling matter at a molecular scale. This technology is already revolutionising numerous applications in healthcare, electronics, cosmetics, food packaging, clothing, disinfectants and household appliances.

In the Denta-Med gel, proprietary technology is used to produce slow-release micro particles. These micro particles are sized to act topically and not enter the body. They boost and prolong the effectiveness of the gel's active ingredients (the anti-bacterials, fluoride, etc.).

This is because these unique micro particles are biocompatible, enabling them to attach to hard and soft tissues, and because of their size and number, are bioadhesive, which greatly enhances their ability to bond the ingredients to the teeth and the entire mouth.

Just as importantly, their slow-release mechanism enables the active ingredients to be retained longer. The protective screen formed by the micro particles remains for up to 8 hours. During this time it slowly biodegrades, eventually disappearing without trace or side effects.

This means the Denta-Med gel can be safely used 3 times a day if needed. The Denta-Med gel is particularly effective at night because salivary flow almost ceases. This all happens when you are fast asleep so you wake up in the morning with a refreshed, cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable mouth.

Nanoparticles

[April 2009] Recently there have been issues raised about the safety of micro particle technology.
The major issues have been about free particles and the risk of inhalation causing respiratory problems, the mode of action, and the safety of the material.
Denta-Med is one of the safest oral care products on the market for the following reasons.
1. The material used in Denta-Med is micronized and in liquid form so it cannot be inhaled.
2. It acts by forming a membrane that improves the bioperformance of the ingredients. It acts topically not systemically.
3. Chitosan is one of the most commonly occurring polysaccharides in nature as it is found in plants, vegetables, and crustaceans. It is a food approved  substance.
4 Denta-Med does not contain frequently used sodium lauryl sulphate, triclosan, or chlorhexidine, which have had adverse effects reported.
5. Denta-Med is manufactured at a licensed Australian medicine facility. All materials used must be approved for safety and quality, and the manufacture has to be in accordance with those of a pharmaceutical product.
6. Before any clinical trials can be carried out on human subjects, the product must be cleared by the University Human Ethics Committee to ensure no one is at risk during or after the trial.
